In Memoriam: Marie Petro

Marie Petro, 71, of Rocky Hill, passed away on January 1, 2016 at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Lucy (Scata) Petro.

Before retiring, she worked as a supervisor for Traveler’s Insurance for over 25 years. Marie was a very loving, caring person and was devoted to her family. She was a caregiver for her parents in their later years.

She enjoyed making crafts as a vendor for craft fairs, going on day trips, shopping and loved to cook.

Marie leaves behind her brother, Christopher S. Petro and sister, Anna Petro, both of Rocky Hill, her aunt Nadine and uncle Nicholas of Hartford, and several cousins. She also leaves her “adopted aunt”, Elaine Backiel of Wethersfield.

Family would like to give a special thank-you to Anna the head nurse and her caring staff at Avery Heights in Hartford.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 6, at 9 a.m. at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St, Rocky Hill. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
