• Firefighters Put Out Structure Fire in CT After Finding Frozen Hydrant (fireengineering.com) — Rocky Hill firefighters quickly knocked down a Sunday morning blaze at a commercial building on Laurel Road, despite first encountering a frozen hydrant. Crews confirmed the structure was empty, used interior attack to control the fire, briefly closed parts of Dividend Road, and called in neighboring departments for town coverage, with no injuries reported.
   

• Middletown man accused of dragging cop before I-91 chase said he had been using drugs, warrant says (greenwichtime.com) — A Rocky Hill police officer was dragged during an early-morning Christmas Day traffic stop that led to a high-speed chase on I-91, according to an arrest warrant. State police say the Middletown driver later admitted to using multiple illegal drugs and was found with narcotics and packaging materials before being taken into custody on numerous charges.
