Busy Tennis Tournament Weekend For Hartford/Tolland County Schools

A nasty rainstorm wiped out most scheduled state tournament competition Saturday, forcing many area teams to play on Sunday.

CONNECTICUT — After a volatile weather weekend in which a few CIAC state tournament tennis matches sere postponed Frday, followed by a deluge of rain which wiped out nearly the entire Saturday schedule, first-round action in the boys' and girls' brackets was finally completed Sunday ... almost.

By the conclusion of the first day of June, three area teams had yet to play their had yet to play their opening matchups among teams from Hartford and Tolland counties: Northwest Catholic boys (Class S) and Suffield vs. Rocky Hill girls (Class M). In the meantime, nine boys' teams and five girls' squads from the region have advanced in their quests to capture state titles.
