South Windsor K-9 Helps East Windsor Police Seize Stolen Gun, Fentanyl During Traffic Stop

Police said South Windsor K-9 Mason played a key role in a traffic stop that led to drug and firearm charges.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A South Windsor Police Department K-9 unit played a central role in an arrest Friday night after assisting East Windsor police during a traffic stop, authorities said.

East Windsor police said an officer stopped a vehicle for motor-vehicle violations and suspected additional criminal activity during a roadside interview. The South Windsor Police Department K-9 Unit was requested, and K-9 Mason alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

Following the alert, officers searched the vehicle and recovered a stolen firearm, a large quantity of cocaine and fentanyl, and additional evidence, police said.

As a result of the investigation, the suspect was charged with multiple firearm- and drug-related offenses, including criminal possession and theft of a firearm, illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession with intent to sell, possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, along with motor vehicle violations.

Police said the suspect was held on a $250,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Dec. 15, 2025.

Authorities credited the South Windsor K-9 Unit and K-9 Mason for assisting in the investigation.

Charges are allegations, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
