SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A drunken driver backed into a restaurant in South Windsor Sunday, police said.

As a result, a 34-year-old South Windsor man has been charged with unsafe backing and driving under the influence, records show.

The incident occurred at 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of 465 Buckland Road. When officers arrived, they discovered that a vehicle had backed into the front glass door of Sawadee Thai Cuisine Restaurant, according to an incident report.

The vehicle then became stuck in when he attempted to leave the scene, according to an incident report.

The man then failed sobriety tests and was arrested, according to an incident report.

He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Nov. 24, police said.
