Cote, MacLeod, McManus: Recent Death Notices From South Windsor

Condolences are extended to the families and friends of those who have recently died.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Here are some recent death notices from South Windsor.

Gilbert Cote Sr., 89, beloved husband of 63 years to the late Claire (Bergeron) Cote, died peacefully on April 6, 2025, surrounded by his family. Gilbert worked on the family farm in his younger years. He came down to Connecticut from Maine and went to work as the head foreman for DH&R Construction. He would later start Cote Carpenters with his brothers, and in his late years, he and his son Gil started G&G Carpentry. He retired at age 72. Gilbert He built buildings at the TPC at River Highlands and homes around Connecticut for famous people, among many other things.

Bruce MacLeod, 82, beloved husband of Barbara (Rich) MacLeod, died peacefully on March 29, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School and went on to study at Western New England College. Bruce married the love of his life, Barbara, on March 14, 1964. They lived in West Springfield until 2001, moving to Chester to run their new business, Castle Marina, and to South Windsor in 2017 upon retirement. He opened a machine shop and a graphics business, Visual Communications. He later went into boat repair, culminating with forming Castle Marina in Chester, specializing in yacht repair and custom carpentry as well as managing a marina.

Kathleen (Cushman) McManus, 69, passed away on March 25, 2025, with her loving sons at her side. For over 27 years, Kathy courageously fought multiple battles with cancer with a deep-rooted grace, a positive attitude and a commitment to see her sons settled in their paths in life. For many years, she worked as a systems engineer at Aetna (now CVS) and was well liked and respected by her coworkers. She was a longtime volunteer for South Windsor Little League, well past the time her sons participated in the league.
