Intoxicated Simsbury Woman Drove The Wrong-Way, South Windsor Police Say

A 22-year-old woman from Simsbury was charged with operating under the influence after an early-morning traffic stop, police say.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A Simsbury woman was arrested early Saturday morning after an officer spotted her driving in the wrong direction, according to a news release from South Windsor Police.

Police said the incident happened around 5:04 a.m. on November 29th, when an officer traveling near Route 5 and Chapel Road saw a vehicle heading south in the northbound lanes.

The officer caught up to the driver, identified by police as Aisha M. Haidara, 22, of Simsbury, and conducted a traffic stop.

During the investigation, officers believed Haidara was under the influence of alcohol. She consented to field sobriety tests and subsequently failed, police said.

Officials say Haidara was taken into custody, processed, and later released on a $500 non-surety bond. She is due in Manchester Superior Court on December 15th at 9 a.m., according to South Windsor police.
