A Look At South Windsor's State Title History In Winter Team Sports
South Windsor High School teams have won five state titles in winters past, while its predecessor, Ellsworth, won seven.
SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — The winter high school sports campaign is officially upon us, as boys ice hockey, girls basketball and wrestling begin practices Monday, while indoor track, boys basketball, boys swimming and gymnastics all commence Dec. 5.
With eager players slated to take the ice, court and mat in the coming days, dreams of a state championship berth in March are already formulating in the minds of athletes and coaches alike.
Here is the state title history in winter sports for South Windsor High School teams, as well as its predecessor, Ellsworth High School. (NOTE: the girls ice hockey tournament is not sanctioned by the CIAC, and is therefore not included)
