Worker Injured After Becoming Trapped In Machine At South Windsor Business

Authorities said the injured employee was found on top of industrial equipment and needed to be rescued.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A man was injured Wednesday morning after becoming trapped in a machine at a South Windsor business, officials said.

Emergency crews were called around 9:51 a.m. to a unidentified business on Schwier Road. The South Windsor Fire Department, South Windsor Police Department, and the Ambulance Service of Manchester responded.

Firefighters said the worker was found on top of a canned beverage processing machine about 18 feet off the ground. Another employee had partially freed him before emergency crews arrived.

First responders said they worked together to fully free the worker and safely lower him to the ground.

Police said the employee suffered bone-deep cuts to his hand and lower arm after his hand became caught in the machine. Officers applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding.

The worker was taken to Hartford Hospital in stable condition, officials said.

Police said OSHA has been notified and will respond to review the workplace incident.
