Planning And Zoning Imposters Trying To Scam Applicants In South Windsor, Officials Say
Scammers are trying to prey on South Windsor zoning applicants.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Law Enforcement and municipal officials in South Windsor are warning residents about scammers who are impersonating the Planning and Zoning Department.
Officials were alerted to the scam earlier this week.
"We've been made aware of fraudulent messages (via email) going out to applicants requiring additional application fees for an application to be approved," PZC officials said.

They added, "We never ask for additional payments through wire transfer. Fees for any applications are discussed in person with the applicant. All email communications will come from our verified channels, such as from OpenGov.com."
PZC officials said anyone receiving any suspicious communication, should not click on any links or provide any information.

Those contacted should not respond, take a screen shot or copy the message and report it immediately at 860-644-2511, ext 2329, PZC officials said.
"We take your security seriously and are actively working to shut down these scams," officials said.
