South Windsor 2024 Election Results: Incumbents Sweep State Races

The polls have closed in South Windsor for the 2024 elections, and here are the latest updates on how local residents voted.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Shortly after the polls closed Tuesday night, Vice President Kamala Harris was announced as the winner of Connecticut's seven electoral college votes, defeating former President Donald J. Trump and three other candidates, according to the Associated Press.

Also, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-CT, won re-election and a third term in Congress, according to projections. He defeated GOP challenger Matthew M. Corey and two other candidates.

With just over 70 percent of the precincts reporting, Fox61 declared longtime Democratic incumbent John Larson the victor over Republican challenger Jim Griffin and Green Party candidate Mary Sanders in the battle for the District 1 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

State Senator Saud Anwar retained the 3rd District seat, representing East Hartford, East Windsor, Ellington and South Windsor. The Democrat held an unofficial margin of 63.7 percent to 36.3 for Republican Matt Siracusa.

"Having the opportunity to return to the Senate and continue efforts to protect public health, build our economy, support our environment and benefit our communities is a great honor," Anwar said. "I could not be more proud to hold this vital role and work to further improve our state and ensure our residents thrive. I’m thankful to all of my supporters and will not let them down."

Democratic incumbent Maryam Khan, who was basically unopposed save for write-in candidate Tracy Funnye, will continue to represent the 5th District in the state House, while Tom Delnicki will return to Hartford in the 14th District after turning back challenges from Democrat Stephen King Jr. and United Community Party candidate Marek Kozikowski.
