Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.

My wife Renu, and I have been married for 17 years. My 16 year old son, Tiernan, is a junior at SWHS. My 11 year old son, Aakhil, is a 6th grader at TE. I also have a 4 year old daughter named Anjali. She currently goes to preschool and will be in kindergarten at Orchard Hill starting next fall.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government? No

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective? No

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I am running for the BOE because I want to make a difference for the families in our community. I want to make sure the teachers have all the tools necessary to continue providing our children the high level of education that South Windsor has become known for.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The growth of the student population and I intend to work towards making sure that appropriate steps and measures are taken to ensure the high quality and standards of our town's school system is retained and expanded.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I am registered unaffiliated because I believe partisan politics can be divisive and I want to work with members of all parties and understand more diverse viewpoints to do what is in the best interest of the children of South Windsor by listening to everyone.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

I believe more needs to be done to address the epidemic of bullying. And we need to work with the administration to make sure that the growth of the schools doesn't have a negative effect on the education provided.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have been involved, on various levels, with events or organizations involving education for children. These include nonprofit organizations, camps and schools. I have planned and led various programs successfully and these experiences have given me perspective and knowledge to handle this job.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

To speak up when you have an idea, even if it is not a popular one. The best decisions are the ones that a group of people come to after hearing all sides of a situation.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I want to be your voice on the BOE. I promise to always listen to students, parents, and teachers. I want to not only celebrate accomplishments but also face the challenges head on and work to give all students and teachers an environment where everyone can feel safe and reach their best potentials.
