SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — The Flatbread Company immediately closed its South Windsor location, the company announced in a Facebook post that no longer loads.

On Monday, Neil Sharp, the owner of the company’s South Windsor location, wrote in an open letter on Facebook that he is closing the popular pizzeria due to difficulties stemming from the upcoming Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk, according to reports from Fox61 News and the Hartford Courant.

Sharp said in his social media post that he was considering moving to another location in Evergreen Walk, but numerous factors like construction costs and staffing shortages complicated those efforts. The Canton location remains in Connecticut.

“We really wanted to make it work. We had months of drawings and quotes, but the cost of construction, materials, staffing shortages, and multiple other factors made moving an infeasible venture,” Sharp continued. “We agreed to give the current space back to the landlord as they have some serious redevelopment going on.”

Sharp said that all gift cards issued at the South Windsor location can still be used at any American Flatbread location.

On its social media, American Flatbread described the restaurant as "focused on using the best quality local products. We create the very best pizza we can imagine!"

The pizzeria has stellar reviews on social media and more than 10,000 Facebook fans.

One reviewer on Google wrote, "Simple ingredients, locally grown products, and chill vibes made Flatbread a delicious experience. I love the ambience of the place. The brick oven is the heart of the open kitchen. There's nothing fancy about the food, but full of flavor. You can taste the freshness and quality of the salad. And the dough of the flatbread is thin, light, and just the right amount of chewiness. We really enjoyed the food and friendly service. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking to dinner in with their family or just yourself.
