Statewide Homeschooling Group to host free Educational Freedom event on November 7

"Leaving a Legacy of Educational Freedom" featuring keynote by Lauren Gideon

TEACH, The Education Association of Christian Homeschoolers, is organizing a free forum on the topic of "Leaving a Legacy of Educational Freedom: The ROI of Responsibility, Ownership and Independence" on Friday, November 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Truth Baptist Church, 60 Burnham Street in South Windsor. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served. Children are welcome. A family-friendly lobby area with comfortable seating, sound system speakers, a video viewing screen and a nursery are available. Networking and refreshments begin at 6:30 p.m., with the formal presentation beginning at 7 p.m. and open panel Q&A with legislators and others at 8 p.m.

The keynote speaker will be Lauren Gideon, Director of Government Relations for Classical Conversations and President of the Classical Conversations Foundation. Gideon works to promote and protect education independence while encouraging families to practice good stewardship of their civic responsibilities. She is a veteran homeschool mother of seven children, combining professional advocacy with personal experience to champion parental rights in education.

Founded in 1997 and based in Warrenton, Virginia, Classical Conversations is a for-profit support organization that licenses its homeschool curriculum, services and training to tutors who help to equip parents to homeschool their K-12 and college-age children. Classical Conversations serves over 45,000 families enrolled from over 50 countries. An emphasis is made on memory and application, to build critical thinking skills.

Based in Windsor, TEACH advocates for homeschool freedoms and helps to equip home educators.
