Time to Seat Michael Paré on the Town Council
FACTS about the Town Council appointments:

Former South Windsor Mayor, Andrew Paterna today released data showing nominations to town boards, commissions and committees put forward by the South Windsor Republican Town Committee are overwhelmingly supported by Democratic councilors.
The following data released today is clear:
Between 2020 and 2023, the South Windsor Town Council has worked with Republicans to unanimously affirm the nominations of 45 Republicans (96% of the 48 nominated) who came before the Council to serve on boards, commissions, and committees..

"Although some might think nothing gets done in politics, these numbers don't lie. Serving our community, regardless of political affiliation, is important, and these numbers reflect that reality," Paterna said. Democrats on the South Windsor Town Council are committed to work in a bipartisan way and 96% of South Windsor Republican Boards & Commission Nominees were approved by the South Windsor Town Council.
There were 3 Republicans (4% of the 48 nominated) put forward by the South Windsor Republican Town Committee for Boards and Commissions who did not receive the necessary votes on the Council to advance their nominations. These Boards and Commissions do not have a fiduciary responsibility and are advisory boards only. *Please NOTE: two of the three Republicans referenced here REFUSED TO MEET with the Mayor to discuss the issues of concern.*

In contrast to Boards and Commissions, the vacant seat on the Town Council is especially important because all Council members DO have a fiduciary responsibility to the town and its residents. Once again, the numbers speak for themselves. Since 2020 there were THREE Republican vacancies on the Town Council. The Republican Party sent forward their nominations and they were ALL UNANIMOUSLY accepted by the Democratic Majority on the Town Council.
While in the process of discussion, prior to the vote, Mayor Delnicki showed a true example of leadership when she voted yes to seat the nominee, and Councilor Beganski offered his opinion that this has now become a distraction and he also voted yes to seat the nominee. True leadership was displayed by these two members of the Town Council.
Further, The Town Charter states: the Town Council “SHALL” fill the Vacancy in an expedient manner. This has now been more than a month for this duly ELECTED DEMOCRATIC VACANCY to be filled. This raises a question about whether ANY legislation passed by an 8-member Council can be valid.
