STAFFORD, CT — An armed man in his birthday suit was running rampant in Stafford late Thursday night onto early Friday morning, according to state police and residents.

The naked man was first noticed at a home on Prospect Street and was eventually located just after 2 a.m. and transported to get help, state police said.

No one was hurt, state police said.

A video posted by a resident on the "What's Going on in and around Stafford Springs, Conn." page on Facebook, extracted from a home surveillance system, clearly shows a naked man at a home.

All seemed quiet until a man, clearly naked, suddenly emerged from a blind side of the home. He was blocking his privates with one hand while holding what appeared to be a large knife in the other.

Seemingly in distress, the man then disappeared down the driveway and into the darkness with what resembled a painful, barefoot trot, like he was on hot coals.

Proclaimed the posting, "Just had a naked man with a knife ring my doorbell at 12:53 (a.m.) on Prospect Street ... LOCK YOUR DOORS ... police were called immediately.

The posting, of course, prompted a plethora of comments from both online comics and people who were downright shocked and frightened.

Here is a sampling:

"Bro, that looks like a sword!" one person exclaimed.

"Well ... that's unsettling," said one comment.

"Oh noooooo!!! That is horrifying," said another.

"On a Thursday?" one person quipped.

"Sorry but that is hilarious," another person said.

State police did indeed respond and issued the following statement:

"Preliminary reports indicate that Troopers from Troop C responded to a report of a man with no clothes possibly walking with a knife. Upon arrival, Troopers determined there was no criminal aspect and one was transported to an area hospital for evaluation."
