Mosquito Testing Shows Stafford, Willington Relatively Unscathed
The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station is responsible for weekly trapping, identifying and testing of local mosquitoes.
WILLINGTON/STAFFORD, CT — Stafford and Willington are batting just about a thousand when it comes to mosquito testing this warm weather season.
According to the latest The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station mosquito trapping and testing cumulative results, released on Tuesday, 924 of the insects have been collected so far from the Cedar Swamp area in Stafford. Not a single mosquito has tested positive for diseases like West Nile Virus and the Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus.
In Willington, on Pinney Hill Road, 1,157 mosquitos have been collected and tested. Positive tests include one for EEE on Sept. 12 and one for West Nile on Aug. 22.

The total number of mosquitoes tested to date in the state is 313,714.
The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station is responsible for weekly trapping, identifying and testing mosquitoes for diseases. Positive findings are reported to local health departments and published to the CAES website at http://www.ct.gov/caes/mosquitotesting.
