Stafford Man Accused Of Possessing 270 Child Porn Images: Warrant

STAFFORD, CT — A 37-year-old Stafford man began the week in custody on a child pornography charge after being served a warrant last week.

Peter Mercier, 37, failed to post a $150,000 bond at his Sept. 16 arraignment and is due back in Rockville Superior Court on Oct. 24, judicial system records show. He has been charged with felony possession of child pornography, according to a warrant.

State police began investigating the case on Jan. 31 off after a message was left on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tip line.

A search of Mercier's Stafford residence by state police and a subpoena to an internet provider from the Department of Homeland Security uncovered 270 images stored to a Google Photos account, most of which involved female children performing various sex acts and depicted in various stages of undress, according to a warrant.

The account was then traced to Mercier, according to a warrant.
