Thefts From Unlocked Vehicles In Stafford Result In Felony Charge

STAFFORD, CT — A Windham man is facing a felony burglary charge in connection with the thefts of credit cards from unlocked vehicles in Stafford, state police said.

According to a warrant, on Sept. 19, state police were contacted by a Stafford resident who said items were missing from two vehicles parked in his driveway on Harvey Lane. Both were left unlocked overnight, according to a warrant and the missing items included a wallet and several credit cards, according to a warrant.

When state police inspected the vehicles, a filet knife was discovered that did not belong to either car owner, according to a warrant.

The resident initially went outside to check the vehicles after being alerted to a credit card being used at a Cumberland Farms, state police said.

Home surveillance was not operational during the overnight hours at the home, according to a warrant, but Cumberland Farms cameras showed the person who used the credit card exiting a newer model Hyundai stolen out of Stafford, according to a warrant. The man was also seen at another area store, according to a warrant.

The man was eventually identified by Willimantic police as 41-year-old Pedro Delgado-Morales, of Windham. He was served a warrant on Feb. 13 charging him with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, charging less than $500 on a revoked payment card (two counts) and receipt from illegally using a credit card (two counts).
