WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local animal control officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding a "sweet male" dog that was struck by a vehicle on Newington Road Thursday.

The small canine, according to West Hartford Animal Control, was found on the Newington Town Line between 6 and 7 p.m. Thursday.

Local animal control is seeking information about what may have happened and who the dog belongs to.

The good news is while hit by a vehicle, the dog is recovering after getting the necessary veterinary treatment.

"If you live in that area and have a camera on your home please check it," wrote West Hartford Animal Control Friday morning.

"He is under 20 lbs. and we are urgently seeking any information about him or from his owners."

While the dog is yet unclaimed, West Hartford Animal Control is not processing any adoption inquiries yet.

"He has no microchip, he is not neutered and has a very sweet disposition," wrote West Hartford Animal Control in a separate notice Thursday evening.
