Teen Killed After Stolen Car Hits Tree, Then House: Wethersfield PD

Three teens were inside a vehicle that had been reported stolen prior to the crash, police said.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A teenager was killed when a stolen car out of Hartford struck a tree and then a house in Wethersfield, police said.

On Sunday, police responded to 129 Church St. for a reported car versus residential structure accident, police said.

Upon arrival, officers saw two people trapped inside a car. A third person fled on foot, eventually returning to the accident scene, police said.

"Preliminary investigation has determined that the vehicle, identified as stolen out of Hartford and occupied by three juveniles, was driving erratically east on Church Street towards Garden Street before striking another vehicle traveling westbound, veering off of the roadway, striking a tree, and then, a residential residence," police said in a news release.

Two of the teens were removed from the vehicle and one teen was later pronounced dead at a local hospital on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The crash is under investigation.
