EAST WINDSOR, CT — Our last Hidden Gem featured the Millpond Country Store in Stafford. Today we visit another Mill Pond, this time in the Broad Brook village of East Windsor, and a slightly-off-the-beaten-path wedding and event venue full of charm and scenic beauty.

Located at 27 Depot Street on the northeastern edge of the pond, Merlot on the Water occupies an historic 5,900 square foot building, constructed in 1850, which at one time was owned by the Knights of Columbus. It was acquired in 2009 and converted into a true gem of a banquet hall. The main ballroom, restored in 2011, has the capacity to seat up to 150 guests, but the facility is quaint enough to host events as small as 40 guests.

The pondside location offers beautifully manicured gardens and a lush green landscape, with an outdoor terrace providing a waterfront view with an elegant country feel.
