South Windsor Man Accused of Driving a Stolen Vehicle While Drunk in East Windsor

Police said the incident occurred around 4:50 p.m. on Monday.

An East Windsor police officer watched a white Chevy Impala collide with a construction truck on South Main Street, East Windsor police said in a Facebook post. After the accident, the Chevy speed away from the scene.

After checking if the operator of the construction truck was OK, police said the officer chased after the Chevy and caught up to them about half a mile away from the crash scene and pulled the vehicle over.

Investigation of the crash led to the arrest of Lyford Parker, 48, of South Windsor.

He is accused of driving a stolen vehicle while intoxicated.

Parker was charged with evading responsibility, using a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission, failure to grant the right of way and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

He was held on $15,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear before the Enfield Superior Court on Tuesday.
