2 Teen Carjacking Suspects Found Hiding In Freezer By Capitol Police

U.S. Capitol Police officers arrested two carjacking suspects who were hiding in an outdoor freezer along Pennsylvania Avenue, police said.

WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Capitol Police officers arrested two carjacking suspects who were hiding in an outdoor freezer along Pennsylvania Avenue in Southeast D.C., according to the U.S. Capitol Police.

The suspects, 18-year-old Cedae Hardy and 18-year-old Landrell Jordan, were charged by police with several firearm and assault charges.

At about 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, a police officer spotted a white BMW sedan in the 100 block of E Street NW that was believed to be tied to several armed carjackings in a neighboring jurisdiction, police said. The officer tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver sped off, according to police.

The driver of the BMW then clipped a U.S. Capitol Police van along First Street and then crashed into a police SUV along the 300 block of Third Street, SE, police said.

The driver and passenger got out of the car, ran and tried to hide in an outdoor freezer behind a restaurant along Pennsylvania Avenue, where they were caught by officers, police said.

A gun and a high-capacity magazine were recovered in the incident, according to police.

Hardy and Jordan were charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, carrying a pistol without a license, felony fleeing, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a large capacity feeding device, unregistered ammunition and unregistered firearm.
