• Afghan national charged in ambush killing of National Guardsman in D.C. (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Federal prosecutors in Washington have added serious interstate firearm charges against a man accused in last month’s ambush shooting near Farragut Square that killed one National Guardsman and critically injured another. The case, now moved to U.S. District Court, remains under active investigation by the FBI’s Washington Field Office and DC’s Metropolitan Police Department.
   

• Police asking for drivers to follow 'slow down and move over' laws after multiple police offciers are hit by cars (wusa9.com) — A US Park Police officer was injured on the Baltimore–Washington Parkway near East Riverdale, highlighting renewed concerns about driver behavior around emergency scenes affecting officers who work in and around Washington. After two suspected impaired drivers were arrested, law enforcement advocates in the District are urging motorists to slow down, move over, and stay sober to prevent more traffic-related injuries and deaths.
   

• Joseph Edward Fitzpatrick, 93, (smnewsnet.com) — A longtime Navy veteran and former St. Elizabeth’s Hospital sanitation inspector who was inducted into the Washington DC Boxing Hall of Fame has died at 93. His life connected Washington’s boxing community and healthcare system with decades of military service and family roots across Maryland and Pennsylvania, leaving a legacy remembered by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
