WASHINGTON, DC -- It's June, which means it's time for the 2019 Capital Pride Parade in Washington, D.C. this weekend.

The parade happens during -- of course -- Gay Pride Month nationwide, an opportunity to raise awareness of the LGBTQ+ community.

Here's everything you need to know about this weekend's event.

WHAT: The 2019 Capital Pride Parade, an annual event in D.C. in which more than 200 organizations traverse a 1.5-mile route expressing themselves with floats, vehicles, signs, banners, and entertainment "to commemorate our history and support our community, making this one of DC’s favorite and most impactful parades," according to the website.

WHEN: Saturday, June 8, 4:30-8:00 p.m.

WHERE: Dupont and Logan Circles NW (starts at Dupont, ends at U Street/African-Amer Civil War Memorial/Cardozo – 13th Street)

WHO: The event is organized by the Capital Pride Alliance, which hosts year-round LGBTQ+ Pride festivities centered in the National Capital Region. The organization "serves to celebrate, educate, support, and inspire our multi-faceted communities in order to grow and preserve our history and protect our rights for current and future generations."

SPECIAL GUESTS: From the website: "Earline Budd, Brandon Wolf, Matt Easton, and members of the cast of FX’s Pose will lead the Parade in accordance with this year’s theme, shhhOUT: Past, Present & Proud. To commemorate 50 years since the uprisings at Stonewall, the theme turns to the past to inform the present and inspire the future of Pride."

ADMISSION: The event is free to attend, but get there early to scope out the best spots along the parade route.

TRANSPORTATION: Driving is not advised, as roads will be closed and there will be limited parking. Instead, take the Metro Red Line to the Dupont Circle station, which will drop you off right at the start of the parade route. Or, you can take the Green Line to the end point of the parade near U Street.
