Lewis-Hall served food at D.C. public schools during the day and worked nights as a custodian at Senate office and buildings, The Washington Post reports. She was known in her neighborhood as an avid Michael Jackson fan who decorated her front porch with photos, album covers, posters and more memorabilia paying tribute to the King of Pop.

“She knows everyone in this area,” Berhan Dargie told The Washington Post. “If you’re new to this neighborhood, the first person to greet you is Jewel.”
