Columbia Heights Restaurant Has Closed For Good: Report

A Tex-Mex restaurant in Columbia Heights reportedly has closed its doors.

WASHINGTON, DC — Say goodbye to El Tio in Columbia Heights, a Tex-Mex restaurant that is now closed for good as of Sunday, according to a report.

Popville reports that a number of readers have informed them of the demise of El Tio, which opened back in 2014 at 3345 14th Street NW.

El Tio offered typical Tex-Mex fare, such as quesadillas, nachos, tacos, taquitos, and the like. Prices tended to be in the affordable range, with appetizers costing less than $10.

The restaurant offered plenty of drink specials, including pitchers of margaritas along with beer, wine, and liquor.

El Tio has four other locations, all in Northern Virginia: Falls Church, Gainesville, McLean, and Great Falls.

The restaurant had a three-star rating on Yelp based on 166 reviews as of Monday. It was open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. every day except Friday and Saturday, when it stayed open until midnight.
