D.C. Man Runs Away Naked After Attempted Rape Of Stranger: Police

A D.C. man was arrested for trying to rape a woman inside her Camp Springs home, and was allegedly seen running naked from the scene.

CAMP SPRINGS, MD — A Southeast Washington man has been arrested for trying to sexually assault a stranger in her Camp Springs home Saturday morning, police said.

Police believe Khary Edwards, 23, forced his way into the victim's home on Oakland Way at about 11:55 a.m. Saturday. He allegedly assaulted her and attempted to rape her, police said. He also stole items from her home and ran away naked when the first patrol officer arrived on the scene.

Arriving officers saw Edwards, who was naked, running away from the victim's home and lost sight of him in the 5800 block of Auth Rd. Officers later located him when they were canvassing the area.

Edwards was found walking on Auth Road, fully clothed, and led officers on another foot chase, police said. Officers caught him and took him into custody, where he remains on a no-bond status.

Police charged Edwards with attempted murder, attempted rape, robbery and additional charges.
