D.C. Police Officer Dies In Route 32 Crash
A D.C. police officer died in a crash on Route 32 Monday morning. Officer Barry Martin Eastman, 31, was pronounced dead on the scene.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD - A D.C. police officer died in a crash on Route 32 in Clarksville, Md. Monday morning, according to the Howard County Police Department. Route 32 was closed near Route 108 for approximately six hours for the investigation. Transportation officials said the road had reopened after 2 p.m.
Police said a 2015 Kia Forte collided with a 2014 Mack tractor-trailer in the crash on Route 32 around 8 a.m. The driver of the Kia — officer Barry Martin Eastman, 31, of Ellicott City — was pronounced deceased at the scene, police reported. The driver of the tractor-trailer — Ira Goldberg, 53, of Frederick — was uninjured, authorities said.
Eastman was an officer with the 3rd District and had worked with the Metropolitan Police Department for four years, police said.

According to police, the Kia had been headed north on Route 32 when it crossed the double yellow line and hit a tractor-trailer that was traveling south on Route 32. It was not known why the driver crossed into oncoming traffic.
All lanes of Route 32 were closed in the area for police investigation. Authorities said that as of 10 a.m., Route 32 was closed between Route 108 and Linden Church Road. After 2 p.m., state highway officials said the road had reopened.
