DC Mayor Will Be Pelosi's Guest At State Of The Union: Report
Mayor Muriel Bowser, who is pushing for D.C. statehood, will be the special guest of the Speaker of the House.

WASHINGTON, DC -- D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser will be the special guest of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi at the State of the Union address Tuesday night, according to a report.
WAMU's Tom Sherwood tweeted the news, noting that it was a "Nice honor for DC."
Bowser has been pushing for D.C. statehood, and a new bill proposing that has wide support in the House where it has a chance of passing. It has zero chance of getting through the Republican-controlled Senate or being signed by President Trump, but it could progress the farthest it has ever gotten and lay the groundwork for a future push for statehood. Pelosi has been one of the bill's most high-profile supporters.
