WASHINGTON, DC -- If you heard a roar in the skies above downtown D.C. at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, your ears were not deceiving you -- an F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft flew low over the White House to commemorate a signing ceremony for the sale of F-35s to Poland. (Videos embedded below.)

President Trump, the First Lady, and Polish President Andrzej Duda and his wife looked up into the sky from the Rose Garden as the F-35 slowly flew low overhead, first rounding the Washington Monument on its way to the White House.

A Marine Corps variant of the fighter -- there is also an Air Force and a Navy variant of the F-35 -- conducted the flyover to mark Duda's visit and the agreement with Poland to purchase more than 30 fighters.
