Family Rescued From Heavy Blaze In Northwest D.C.

D.C. firefighters rescued a family and their dogs from a heavy fire that broke out in their Northwest Washington home early Friday morning.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — D.C. firefighters rescued a family and their dogs from a heavy fire that broke out in their Northwest Washington home early Friday morning.

Fire officials said the two-alarm fire broke out in the basement and first floor of the two-story home in the 1600 block of Foxhall Rd. There is also a dental office inside of the building, authorities said.

The occupants and their two dogs safely escaped, officials said.

The cause of the fire was ruled accidental. Authorities believe the blaze was the result of an electrical malfunction. Red Cross was on the scene to assist residents.
