WASHINGTON, DC — Police are looking for a suspect in connection with a shooting at the I-395 tunnel in D.C. that may have stemmed from road rage, according to a report.

The Metropolitan Police Department tweeted shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday that they were looking for a vehicle involved in an "Assault w/ Intent to Kill offense" that happened in the 3rd Street Tunnel near Massachusetts Avenue NW. They shared photos of the involved vehicle (embedded below).

NBC Washington's Jackie Bensen tweeted that the shooting has been described as a road rage incident, and one person is in critical condition.

She also quoted a witness as saying that it may have been the result of a dispute following a hit and run collision. The photos shared by police below appear to show a vehicle with significant damage to the rear.
