Large Crowd Goes Sledding At US Capitol (Video)
A weekend snowstorm was the perfect opportunity for locals to go sledding near one of the most iconic landmarks in the United States.

WASHINGTON, DC -- The weekend snowstorm dumped the perfect powdery white stuff for sledding, and so lots of locals headed for the U.S. Capitol to take advantage.
The Capitol was quite a popular place to sled on Sunday, based on footage shared on social media (embedded below).
And with schools and the rest of the city shuttered for Monday (because of the snow as well as the shutdown), they could afford to stay as late as they wanted.

The D.C. area ended up getting between 8 to 12 inches of snow, beating initial forecasts and resulting in school closures around the region. More closures could be on the way Tuesday with melting snow likely to freeze overnight.
