Man Arrested In Shooting Of 11-Year-Old In DC: Police

Police have arrested a man they say shot to death an 11-year-old boy in D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC — Police have arrested a man who they say fatally shot 11-year-old Karon Brown in Southeast D.C. last week.

Police arrested 29-year-old Tony Antoine McClam of Southeast, who faces a charge of second degree murder while armed, according to a report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police were called to the 2700 block of Naylor Road SE at around 7 p.m. on Thursday to a report of gunshots, and found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the report. He was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.

WUSA9's Bruce Leshan reported that there "had been a scuffle involving adults and kids," and a "Good Samaritan picked Karon up off sidewalk and put him in car," but the man came back to the car and shot him to death anyway.

Members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) made the arrest.
