Metro Stays Open Late For MLB All-Star Game, Home Run Derby

Metro will have special late-night rail service after the T-Mobile Home Run Derby ​and the 89th MLB All-Star Game in July.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metro will have special late-night rail service after the T-Mobile Home Run Derby and the 89th MLB All-Star Game in July, thanks to the Major League Baseball's partnership with Mastercard.

The T-Mobile Home Run Derby game is on Monday, July 16, while the All-Star Game is the following day.

The last trains will depart Navy Yard Station at 12:22 a.m. in the direction of Greenbelt and 12:48 a.m. in the direction of Branch Avenue or 30 minutes after the end of the event, whichever is later.

Mastercard's agreement with MLB will cover the additional expenses associated with keeping the transit system open for the two nights.

"Mastercard and Major League Baseball have partnered to connect baseball fans to their passion for the sport for over 20 years," Cheryl Guerin, executive vice president of North America marketing and communications, said in a statement. "Knowing how important Metro is to the region, we were happy to step in with MLB to support extended service and help ensure that everyone attending the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game has a truly Priceless experience."

Additionally, 200,000 SmarTrip cards with All-Star Week designs will be loaded into specially marked vending machines, beginning with Navy Yard Station.

Metro riders also have the ability to purchase discounted tickets to GEICO All-Star FanFest at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center via WMATA and MLB social media channels.
