• DC area law enforcement ups patrols around Jewish places of worship after Australia attack (wjla.com) — Law enforcement across D.C. and the Greater Washington region is stepping up patrols around synagogues and Jewish institutions after a deadly antisemitic attack in Australia, even though no specific local threats have been identified. The FBI’s Washington Field Office is coordinating with local departments, while Jewish community leaders stress both heightened year-round security and a determination to keep celebrating Hanukkah publicly and proudly.
   

• DC mom claims heating units in apartment still not working weeks after raising concerns (dcnewsnow.com) — A D.C. mother of four in a Peabody Street apartment says her wall-mounted heating units still don’t work reliably, leaving her kids huddled around donated space heaters at night. After her complaints, a D.C. Department of Buildings inspector cited the Pinnacle property for code violations, but she says management has yet to provide a lasting fix.
