WASHINGTON, DC -- If you noticed your Metro train moving slower than usual on Monday, there was a reason for that: the wind.

It was extremely windy in the D.C. area on Monday, with gusts of over 60 miles per hour forecast throughout the day. As a result, WMATA put in place a "temporary speed restriction," according to a statement.

WMATA said the restriction may have caused crowded trains during rush hour and delays of 10 to 15 minutes.
