Nats Park Is Banning Backpacks
A new bag policy has been instituted at Nationals Park for "the safety of all our guests," the team says.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Starting this upcoming season, you won't be able to bring a backpack into Nationals Park.
The Nationals have updated their bag policy to ban backpacks from the stadium in order to "enhance ballpark safety," according to a statement.
"Exceptions may be made for backpack diaper bags or backpacks used for ADA/medical reasons," the statement added.

Fans will still be able to bring in purses, briefcases, diaper bags, drawstring bags, and soft-sided coolers under a certain size.
The Nationals did not explain what it was about backpacks that made them a security risk, but some reports indicate it may have something to do with the multitude of compartments.

"We understand the implementation of these procedures will take some time for our fans to get used to, but our organization is dedicated to making Nationals Park the safest environment possible for everyone in attendance."
