WASHINGTON, DC — Thousands of protesters poured into the streets of D.C. to protest police brutality and the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis on Memorial Day.
In a now-viral video, a handcuffed Floyd can be seen pleading for air as a white Minneapolis cop knelt on his neck for more than eight minutes. The officer, identified as Derek Chauvin, was later fired from his job and charged with third-degree murder.
