Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For DC, PG County

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Northeast D.C. and Prince George's County until 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

At 4:52 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Bowie moving east at 20 miles per hour. The storm packs winds of up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail.

"Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles," the National Weather Service says in a warngin. "Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles."
