Suspect Arrested In Fatal Shooting Of Homeless Man In D.C.: Police

A D.C. man has been arrested for the fatal shooting of a homeless man in Northwest D.C. Sunday.

WASHINGTON, DC — A D.C. man has been arrested for the fatal shooting of a homeless man in Northwest D.C. Sunday, police said.(Subscribe to the D.C. Patch for realtime breaking news alerts.)

Police arrested Antonio Williams, 36, of Northwest D.C. pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant Monday. Williams was charged with second-degree murder while armed.

At about 9:28 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the 600 block of Newtown Place, NW, near the Petworth neighborhood, for the report of a shooting.

Officers discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound who was pronounced dead on the scene. The decedent has been identified as 41-year-old Antwaun Smith, of no fixed address.
