Trench Rescue In DC, 1 Worker Pulled To Safety
Rescuers pulled a worker from a trench in D.C. on Tuesday.
WASHINGTON, DC — A construction worker is being treated for injuries after becoming trapped in a trench in D.C. on Tuesday.
D.C. Fire and EMS responded to the 3500 block of 11th Street NW due to an "injured worker below grade in a trench," according to a tweet.
The worker's leg was trapped in the trench, and he was conscious and did not appear to have life-threatening injuries. Rescuers went to work shoring the trench to make it safe for rescue operations.

Extreme heat made the rescue operation difficult, but they were able to extract the injured worker about an hour later.
One firefighter was treated for a heat-related issue, D.C. Fire and EMS added.
