US Olympian Katie Ledecky Joining DC Swimming Team: Report
U.S. Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky, a D.C. native, reportedly will be the ambassador for a new competitive D.C.-based swimming team.

WASHINGTON, DC -- A new swimming team is starting up in D.C. spearheaded by U.S. Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky, a D.C.-area native who has won five Olympic gold medals and 14 world championship gold medals, the most for a female swimmer.
The Washington Business Journal reports that the International Swimming League will launch in October with a team based in the District.
The team will be called the D.C. Trident, and it will be one of four U.S. teams, who will join four European-based teams. Swimmers can earn bonuses, prize money, and appearance fees, according to the report.

Ledecky will be a league ambassador and will also compete in meets, according to a Washington Post report.
