Pack an umbrella for the commute Thursday. Storms are expected in the region, but not until after near-record temps. Here's the timeline.

WASHINGTON, DC — Thursday will be a tale of two forecasts. We can expect temperatures near record levels, followed by a chance for rain and thunderstorms during the afternoon commute.
Records for Nov. 3 are 80 degrees in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, and 81 degrees at Dulles. We'll be near those temperatures, and possibly break records Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
All that hot weather will be followed by "gusty showers," according to forecasters. With the chance for a thunderstorm or two. Wind gusts will reach 25 mph, and could climb much higher in a storm.
