WASHINGTON, DC -- It's almost here: the Washington Nationals will open their 2019 season on March 28 at home against the New York Mets.
It was quite a tumultuous offseason for the hometown boys, losing Bryce Harper to free agency. Harper signed a blockbuster 13-year, $330 million deal with their division rivals, the Philadelphia Phillies. Nevertheless, there are high expectations that this team will be a contender for the playoffs.

The schedule ahead: After Opening Day (and a day off on Friday, March 29 in case Opening Day is rained out), the Nats will play two more games against the Mets on Saturday and Sunday. Then, Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies come to down for a two-game series on Tuesday and Wednesday next week (April 2-3) in what is sure to be one of the most talked-about events in sports this year.
