Washington Tennis & Education Foundation Celebrates 70 Years

DC Non-Profit Builds Life Champions

The Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF) is proud to announce its 70th anniversary, commemorating seven decades of transforming the lives of young people in the nation’s capital. Since 1955, WTEF has been dedicated to empowering DC youth through a unique combination of tennis instruction, educational opportunities, and life skills development. “For 70 years, WTEF has been a cornerstone of the DC community, providing tennis instruction and academic enrichment to hundreds of students in our community," said Candace Smith, CEO of Washington Tennis and Education Foundation. “We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone and honor the incredible individuals who have contributed to our success,” said Smith.

WTEF’s holistic approach goes beyond the tennis court, focusing on academic support, character development, and the cultivation of essential life skills. The organization’s programs create a safe and supportive environment where young people can thrive, achieve their highest potential, and become life champions.

As WTEF celebrates this significant milestone, it reaffirms its commitment to its mission and looks forward to continuing to serve DC youth for many years to come. The organization invites the community to join in the celebration and support its vital work.

70th Anniversary Gala, Fri., July 18: The WTEF 70th Anniversary Share the Love Gala presented by Mubadala celebrates WTEF’s legacy and continued impact at the beautiful Salamander Hotel in Washington, DC.
Mubadala Citi DC Open, Sat., July 19 to Sun., July 27: The Mubadala Citi DC Open is an annual professional tennis tournament held in Washington, D.C. It's the only combined 500-level tournament in the world that features both men's and women's professional tennis.
