WASHINGTON, DC — The incredible run continues for the Washington Nationals, who have completed a four-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series, which means they're headed to the World Series.
They'll have a full week off to enjoy themselves, as the World Series doesn't kick off until next Tuesday, Oct. 22. It will be a while before they know who their opponent is -- currently, the Houston Astros lead the series over the New York Yankees two games to one.
The Nationals are the first team from Washington to play in the World Seriessince the Washington Senators in 1933 — 86 years ago, WUSA reports.
