Watch Live Stream: Steve Mnuchin Faces Senate Vote

The Senate is expected to confirm the Treasury secretary nominee over objections from Democrats.

The Senate is expected to vote on Treasury secretary nominee Steve Mnuchin Monday, despite objections from many Democrats.

Though Mnuchin hasn't garnered the same public opposition that Betsy Devos and Jeff Sessions received, Democrats within the Senate have demonstrated firm resistance to his confirmation. All Democratic members of the Senate Finance Committee boycotted the final vote to bring Mnuchin before the full Senate. Republicans were only able to approve the nominee out of committee by changing the rules to get around the boycott.

Even without any support from Democrats, Mnuchin is expected to be confirmed.

Debate on the nominee continues at noon Eastern. A final vote is expected by 7 p.m. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell confirmed the vote would occur Monday evening;

"It’s been disappointing to see the historic level of obstruction by #Senate Democrats on confirming @POTUS' Cabinet," he said in a followup tweet.
